If there is one thing we have all learned through the pandemic, it is that life goes on.
Finances are a tool, “never an end in themselves, they are just a means to an end” to quality of life, says Karin Rimnyak, Investment Advisor with Action Financial Group, HollisWealth®, a division of Industrial Alliance Securities Inc. and Insurance Advisor with Hollis Insurance in St. Thomas.
Over the last several months people have been preoccupied with COVID-19 and the impact it is having on their job, their family and their social life.
“I’ve been very happy to observe that life goes on,” says Karin Rimnyak, Investment Advisor with Action Financial Group, HollisWealth®, a division of Industrial Alliance Securities Inc. and Insurance Advisor with Hollis Insurance in St. Thomas.
“People are still having babies,” says Rimnyak. “People are getting married while others are postponing until next year. New relationships are being formed, and sadly a few are failing.”
Rimnyak and her team are still helping people with retirement planning, education savings, and decisions about real estate: home buying and downsizing. Businesses and individuals are facing challenges and opportunities, and a trusted financial planner can help assess the options.
“There is also an opportunity right now for people to hit the reset button,” suggests Rimnyak.
The pandemic is “an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start out very simply with the things that mean the most to us,” says Karin Rimnyak.
Prior to the pandemic, some people felt life was like being on a treadmill.
It is very easy to get drawn into too many commitments with work, your immediate family, recreation, volunteering and other activities that you can easily become overdrawn and exhausted.
During the pandemic most of these activities stopped.
“There were no committee meetings, no social organizations, no sports, there was nothing,” says Rimnyak. “If we can embrace that part of this pandemic as an opportunity to revisit and reconsider what things do we really truly benefit from or enjoy being part of, this could be an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start out very simply with the things that mean the most to us. Then the quality of life can be improved”
Rimnyak adds, “The finances are just a tool. Finances are never an end in themselves, they are just a means to an end.”
